About

Our Culture

What’s it like being a part of Ample? We could say that the fridge is stocked, music is playing and work is getting done. Or maybe that we like doing good work and celebrating victories of all sizes. But it’s probably easiest to send you to our Facebook page to see it for yourself.

We’re about a lot of things. Staying small is one of them. We believe that being big doesn’t translate to being good. In fact, it usually means you’re slow and clunky. We’re for staying true to our roots. Ours run deep in midwest soil. And we have the blue-collar work ethic to prove it. We’re family style. At a restaurant, it means we get a taste of everything. In the office, it means tapping the expertise of multiple disciplines on every project. And speaking of families we’re about the ones we have at home as well. And we support them by partnering with the right clients, pushing ourselves to a premium standard, and having fun along the way. As a whole, we stand for a lot. See what each individual is all about below.

Josh Fendley

Partner, Strategy

Josh is our version of “The Wolf.” In the movie Pulp Fiction, “The Wolf” comes in when things are coming unglued. He calmly and cooly connects the dots and holds things together. That’s Josh. As the Director of Digital Strategy at Barefoot, he cultivated an incredibly strong bond with the MillerCoor’s Mickey’s Fine Malt Liquor brand – enabling his team to create several successful and award-winning campaigns. Today he uses his clear vision and strategic thinking to connect with clients and to assure that our work connects with the right audience.

Bobby Uhlenbrock

Partner, Technology

Bobby is the best dressed of all of us – which may not be saying much. But he’s also the baddest coder this side of the Mississippi. And that’s saying a lot. His 12-year career includes being the lead designer of all online media for Valvoline while at Coactive, two years of e-commerce experience at Frontgate and a stint as the Senior Web Developer in charge of technical strategy while at Barefoot BBDO. Today, whether it’s an online store or a mashup of social media, his creative code-slinging allows us to say, “we can do that,” and look good doing it.

Kevin Comer

Partner, Creative

Kevin is the most rugged and handsome of all the Ample partners. And he’s not just saying that because he’s writing this site. In fact, he feels a little strange about writing in third person. Anyway, “he” has written for print, television, radio and online media. And has spun his verbal skills for companies like Del Monte, Procter and Gamble and Miller Brewing Company. Today, as the copywriting Ample partner, he leverages his linguistic skills to speak to the masses, be they college-age boozers or professors looking for online textbooks.

Adam George

Partner, Creative

Adam is the tallest of the Ample partners. And although his deep-seeded love for Rush might suggest otherwise, he possesses a shockingly versatile artistic vision. His simple and elegant design skills have played out in every conceivable medium. As a Senior Designer at Barefoot BBDO, he led online redesigns for global brands like Swiffer and Febreze. Today, as an Ample partner, he flexes his prowess by spiking online traffic and stopping highway traffic.

Rob Sloan

Partner, Creative

Rob refuses the title of guru despite evidence to the contrary. His hiring at HyperQuake began a pilgrimage of designers that quickly built the little shop to prominence. Imparting his knowledge as an Associate Creative Director at Barefoot BBDO, he led the Miller Brewing Company creative team–developing the look tone and feel for the award winning Mickey’s Malt Liquor online media. Today he miraculously walks the line between designer and developer, leads by example and is growing an impressive beard. If that’s not a guru, what is?

Mandy Marlowe

Senior Project Manager

Mandy is the only Ample employee lacking a Y chromosome. Which means she’s very brave and extremely tolerant. Both of which are key to survival as a project manager. Her skills evolved on the mean streets of Chicago then were honed and heightened while working at Bridge Worldwide. There she managed multi-million dollar P&G brands like Charmin, Bounty and Puffs. At Ample, she is the conductor behind the scenes, managing our resources to insure that timing is met and budgets are adhered to.

Taylor MacDonald

Senior Developer

Taylor is a coding mastermind with a designer’s eye. Which is kind of like a mathematical painter or an accountant that moonlights as an interpretive dance instructor. What’s nice for Ample clients is that it supplies them with the best of both worlds. He makes things work, and he makes sure they look good doing it. Taylor got his start in Lexington designing and developing big-name collegiate athletic sites like ukathletics.com, secsports.com, ncaafootball.com, texassports.com. Later, while working at Creative Department in Cincinnati, he pushed his analytical side, working coding magic on brands like Tide, Macy’s and Lexis Nexis.

Ryan Merrill

Developer

Ryan is half man, half developer, half designer. Which means, according to my “math” he is overflowing with talent. That statement holds even more water, when you realize that he graduated with degrees in Journalism and English from Ohio State, where he was the Editor-in Chief of The Lantern, OSU’s student run daily newspaper. Any way you add it up, Ample is lucky to have someone with his drive and skills. A self-taught web developer, Ryan worked at Barefoot Proximity for a little over a year designing and coding the interfaces for some of Barefoot’s properties. His experience, however, goes well beyond the work he did in Longworth Hall and you can see it all at a site dedicated to examples of his well-rounded skills.
