Project Manager (Position Filled)
Ample is looking for a project manager to work on-site in Cincinnati. You’ll fill a knowledge and communications role helping to manage a wide variety of projects that involve websites, online applications, branding, videos, banner ad, radio and print campaigns etc.
First: Does this sound like you?
I want to do everything possible to help manage Ample’s many projects. I am a good listener and an articulate team member. I don’t want to disappear into the crowd of faceless workers. I want to be a part of a team – befriending clients, working hard and over-delivering.
Second: Do you have these skills?
Project Management
Have answers. Ask questions.
- Manage knowledge. You are the unselfish encyclopedia of project deliverables, due dates, contacts, budgets, etc. You are the one answering questions and sounding alarms.
- Provide excellent client services. You are a pleasant relief to anyone on the other end of the phone line or email stream. You have a genuine interest in resolving problems. When questions arise, you’re unabashed in getting answers.
- Manage timelines, budgets and overages. All things change. And every action has an equal and opposite reaction. You have the tact and honesty to deal with both the cause and effect.
- Help in the creation of statements of work. You are the assist leader in this department. From proposals and estimates to timelines and past budgets, you have the knowledge and skill to gather whatever information is needed to get these wrapped up.
Production duties
Have a critical eye for details.
- Internal quality assurance. You know how things are supposed to work. You’ve been involved every step of the the way. Which means you’re the last one to test and approve applications and websites before release. You’ll also perform multiple cycles of internal testing and issue resolution with the programming team.
- Content Management. You’re a gatherer and disperser of content. Most things we build have a content management system. In some cases, you’ll be adding content into the database. In other cases, you’ll be training clients to manage their own content.
Enjoying yourself
Have fun… (gasp) working.
- You are excited to work for a small company rather than a big one. Why? Because you strive to work smarter so that everyone can work less. You like that we don’t work to look busy, nor that we smile and nod at bad ideas or laugh at bad jokes. You want to work with veterans whom you can depend on, learn from and who always over-deliver.
- You’ll get paid well, have plenty of vacation days, solid health and dental insurance, a parking space, and a really nice office.
Requirements
Have your shit together. Don’t suck.
- You are accountable to yourself and to your team. Expect brutal honesty. Expect revision. You have a strong stomach and a stronger head on your shoulders.
- Computers? Know them and love them. You have to know your way around the internet, and project management tools like Basecamp, Excel, etc. An understanding and active participation in the social media space is a strong plus.
- Never been a PM? That probably isn’t an issue. What we’re looking for is experience working [well] with other people, being a great communicator, and a desire to participate in your own future.
- Technical expertise. We’d love to have someone with a basic understanding of HTML and/or managing web development projects.
